In order to continue to promote the active role of young people in society, as well as the importance of cooperation between the governmental and non-governmental sectors, the UDIK has launched a network called the Civic Initiative for Remembrance and Commemoration (GISK Network). The goal of this initiative is joint civic and political engagement in the culture of remembrance, increasing social cohesion and diversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Networking of young activists, decision makers, academics, government and NGO representatives and others creates a database and space for sharing experiences and working together. Organizing educational trainings, publishing books and working on joint projects provides an opportunity to solve the problem of memorialization in our country. By activating and educating the local community, a space is created for critical thinking and exchange of experiences in the fields of memorialization and commemoration of the victims of the past war.
With the expansion and strengthening of the GISK network, UDIK’s advocacy of impartial civic memorialization in memory of the victims of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues through a network of various activists in local communities in our country. In their work, the members of the network are committed to the basic principles of the network, include other people in the network and work to advocate for a unique monument for all victims of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Be part of our initiative and improve life in your local community.
