THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE KIDNAPPING IN ŠTRPCI

The crime named “Kidnapping in Štrpci” took place on 27 February 1993 when members of the Serbian paramilitary unit under the command of Milan Lukić, with the logistical support from the Republic of Serbia, kidnapped a group of passengers from Belgrade – Bar train at Štrpci station near Višegrad, on Bosnian territory. They kidnapped and later killed nineteen civilians: eighteen Bosniaks, one Croat and one unidentified person. Most of those killed were citizens of Serbia and Montenegro. For this crime were sentenced Nebojša Ranisavljević (fifteen years) and Mićo Jovičić (five years). For the kidnapping of civilians from the train 671 at Strpci station who were killed in Višegrad, Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges for 10 persons and the trial is ongoing. At a session held on October 1, 2018, the High Court in Belgrade confirmed an indictment against Gojko Lukić, Ljubiša Vasiljević, Duško Vasiljević, Jovan Lipovac and Dragana Đekić.

On the occasion of the anniversary, UDIK Coordinator, Edvin Kanka Ćudić, said: “Remembering of kidnapping in Štrpci is our permanent duty. Our obligation is to ask for a memorial at the Belgrade Railway Station, from where a train 671 has started. This memorial should testify about the war crimes committed against civilians, who were primarily citizens of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia”. In this way, the UDIK coordinator underlined: “The memorial plaque should in the future testify to the tragedy that occurred and prevent the forgetting of killed civilians taken from the train at the station of Štrpci”.

On this occasion, we remember the innocent victims: Esad Kapetanović, Ilijaz Ličina, Fehim Bakija, Šećo Softić, Rifet Husović, Senad Đečević, Ismet Babačić, Halil Zubčević, Adem Alomerović, Muhedin Hanić, Safet Preljević, Džafer Topuzović, Rasim Ćorić, Fikret Memović, Favzija Zeković, Nijazim Kajević, Zvezdan Zuličić, Jusuf Rastoder, and Toma Buzov.
