THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE CRIME COMMITTED IN THE VILLAGE OF KRAVICA

Today the Association for Social Research and Communication (UDIK) set up the banner on the Eiffel’s bridge in Sarajevo with a message that needs to remind the public on crime committed in the village of Kravica. In this way UDIK paid tribute to the killed Serbian civilians from the village.
This crime occurred on Orthodox Christmas, January 7, 1993, when the members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBIH) from starving Srebrenica enclave under siege attacked the village of Kravica defended by village guards and soldiers of the Army of the Republika Srpska.
It is important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but especially for the city of Sarajevo, to organize activities like this to remind the public of the crimes committed in the war time of nineties. Denial and forgetting crimes may adversely affect the reconciliation process and culture of remembrance in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are aware of differences in terms of war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but we are also aware of our obligation to mark all the crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to pay tribute to all victims, regardless of the ethnicity of the victims.
