THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIKAVAC FIRE

UDIK-posts                On Monday, June 27, 2016, the Association for Social Research and Communications (UDIK) will attend a memorial service in Visegrad, on the occasion of the anniversary of the killing of Bosniaks in the settlement of Bikavac, near Visegrad. The protest walk will be held at 2.00 pm, a memorial service and laying wreaths at the execution place at 2.30 pm.

In the Bikavac Fire, on June 27, 1992, approximately 70 Bosniak civilians were forced into one room in the house of Meho Aljic in the settlement of Bikavac, near Visegrad. After the captives were robbed, the house was set on fire and the occupants were burned alive. The youngest victim was only one year old. Zehra Turjacanin testified in relation to this incident. For this crime ICTY sentenced Milan Lukic to life imprisonment and Sredoje Lukic to 27 years in prison.

UDIK wants to remind the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina to this horrendous crime and to pay tribute to the civilian victims in Visegrad.
