On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, the Association for Social Research and Communications (UDIK) will organize an activity to mark the anniversary of the crime committed in war camp „Luka“ in Brcko. Half-hour activity will be carried out at noon Youth Square in Brcko.
We remind that war camp „Luka“ was opened on May 4, 1992 in Brcko with the aim of torture of Bosniak and Croatian population in the municipality of Brcko. The camp consisted of 4 parts: Hotel Posavina, DTV Partizan, Haji Pasha’s Mosque and the Police Department of Brcko. For the crimes committed in Brcko the Hague tribunal judged Slobodan Milosevic, Vojislav Seselj, Radovan Karadzic, Biljana Plavsic, Momcilo Krajisnik, Goran Jelisic and Ranko Cesic. The camp commander Goran Jelisic, known as Adolf, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Basic Court in Brcko DC sentenced for war crimes: Kosta Kostic, Konstantin Simonovic, Fikret Piklic and Monika Ilic – Simonovic – Karan. In 2015, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against Dordje Ristanic, wartime head of municipality of Brcko.
UDIK organizes this activity to pay homage to all the victims who were forcibly abducted, tortured and killed, but also to remind the public that remembering is the only way to prevent a new crime and human tradegy.
